A Jewel of a Day

It all happened so suddenly. I knew it was one of the last chances I'd get to make it to the Botanical Gardens to catch the colours so when my support worker turned up one sunny morning off we went. I was fed up with staring at sunny days and not quite managing to catch them. This one had to be caught. So yes, out came the scooter (the gardens hire them out) and out came the camera.

The sun danced...

The grass sang...

The leaves glowed...

And there was this path that just had to be scrunched through...

Autumn is my favourite season. Delicate, yet abundant. Rich, yet fading. Majestic, yet poignant.

I just love it. More sun please.

Great you got out again. Wonderful photos ... it takes a man made space (as in botanical gardens) to concentrate all the good stuff - here mostly I have sycamore seedlings stuck upright in the grass, hawthorn berries in the wheelchair tyre treads, oh and a few brown leaves. (oh bah humbug). But everywhere generally yes I agree, autumn is lovely. Thanks for posting great photographs.

Hello. Those are really lovely pictures, Seahorse. The gorgeous colours (and light) of the leaves in the top picture and the sheer scrunchability of the path lower down gave me a very nice feeling. Pure autumn, really - even if it has been assembled by man. I used to loathe the season, but I've come round to my senses, happily. This was beautiful, thanks.

Kind regards etc.....

Leigh, Sally and TPE thanks. Sometimes it's nice to post a gallery of pics and just have them there, still and reflective, for a few days. Cuts down on nonsensical wittering that's for sure :-p

Nice pics, I do love autumn more than almost any other season, maybe becuase I dislike winter so much or maybe because I am heat intolerant - dunno - but I love it when nature reinvents what we expect to see in different colours, textures, the works!

cusp: it's sunny again today but I'm too done in following landlord house inspection (passed with flying colours). Still, better to be too tired with the sun shining than rain or greyness.

Elizabeth: Absolutely - I'm heat intolerant too so summer (apart from this year) is an ordeal. Autumn has always been my favourite.
