O Christmas Tree

Christmas Trees to me symbolise a fascinating blend of myth, magic, folklore, religion and history. And I find them quite beautiful. These words are simple and effective to one staying in at night with a tree in the window. Excuse the poor German translation.

O Christmas Tree O Christmas Tree
Your branches teach me something.
O Christmas Tree O Christmas Tree
Your branches teach me something.
They teach hope and resistance
Give courage and strength all the time.
O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree
Your branches teach me something!

O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum,
Dein Kleid will mich was lehren:

O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum,
Dein Kleid will mich was lehren:

Die Hoffnung und Beständigkeit
Gibt Mut und Kraft zu jeder Zeit!

O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum,
dein Kleid will mich was lehren.

Love you cat peering through the decoration! Beautiful pusskins!

You are very organised - John went and got a tree for us yesterday, but we have to clear some space for it in the living room...

Sarah and her friend David are coming up on Friday, so we hope to have the tree up and decorated by then.

Hugs from rather grey Liverpool

Nice to see that you've got your camera out again. The cat is framed so well in that ornament! Well done. Did you use flash at all or do you change your ISO or something? My flash on my digital camera is so intense. I generally don't like my indoor shots. I suppose I ought to learn about ISO and all that since Vancouver, like England, is awfully rainy this time of year and outdoor shots just don't happen very often.

Maggie: I'm just lucky to have a shop selling trees right next to my son's school, so two willing helpers carried it home for a small fee of sweets from the corner shop. Know what you mean about clearing space. This year I kept ours small as in the past we've been somewhat overwhelmed by six footers. I prefer small (and so does my son if he's carrying it home ;-) )

Donimo: Hi! Yes it's been a while. My cable got run over by my chair one time too many, so I just got a new one and to be honest there didn't seem to be a great deal of stuff to photograph for a while, though thinking about it there's always stuff isn't there? It was just me. I did change the ISO but don't ask me what to :) I always avoid using flash indoors and out, unless in bright sunshine where, would you believe, it can actually help. The tree lights helped me avoid camera shake here.
